Breathe easy this month by celebrating Asthma Month.

Asthma affects more than 25 million Americans, including 7 million children. Proper medical care is important, but did you know there are steps you can take to make your indoor environment asthma friendly? Consider the following actions from U.S. EPA to breathe easy inside:

  • Don’t smoke in your home or car
  • Wash bedding in hot water once a week
  • Dust and vacuum regularly
  • Keep pets out of bedrooms
  • Store food properly and clean spills right away
  • Avoid using sprays to control pests
  • Control mold growth
  • Control moisture by ensuring proper ventilation
  • Have a medical plan ready if someone in your home has asthma
