Ohio Equity Institute
The Ohio Equity Institute is a grant funded program by the Ohio Department of Health, that allows Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County to develop strategies that will help decrease infant mortality, especially among African American/Black infants. This is done in two ways: Neighborhood Navigation and community coalition work.

Neighborhood Navigation
Public Health’s Neighborhood Navigators help pregnant and postpartum people (baby under the age of 1) access resources such as baby supplies, utility assistance, prenatal care, home visiting services, housing and many more. To get connected to a Neighborhood Navigator, call (937) 496-7718.
Community Coalitions
Public Health works with local partners to facilitate the development, adoption, or improvement of policies and/or practices that impact the social determinants of health, which are conditions in the places where people live, learn, work, and play that affect a wide range of health and quality-of life-risks and outcomes such as those related to preterm birth and low birth weight, which often drive the inequities in birth outcomes within Montgomery County.
If you are interested in being a part of the Social Determinants of Health branch of the EveryOne Reach One Maternal and Infant Vitality Task Force, call (937) 224-8886.
